WHAT TO DO IN GEORGIA?
Tbilisi
Tbilisi is a really fascinating city that is worth spending enough time on. By using it as a base, it is possible to discover different corners of it every day. The most interesting to visit is in the old city and in the Metekhi neighborhood, both separated by the vertebrador and impetuous Mtkvari river. At the foot of the Arab-Mongolian fortress of Narikala there is a universe of narrow streets and slopes where the painting of wooden balconies shimmers with extreme delicacy.
Mtskheta
Mtskheta, the spiritual capital of Georgia
It has three religious sites protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site: The spectacular Svetiskhoveli Cathedral, the Samtavro Church and the Jvari Church, the latter located on top of a hill from which there are prodigious views of the city of Mtskheta and the confluence of the two rivers (differences can be seen even in the color of the water).
Gori
The fortress stands on a rocky hill and is visible from different points of the city. The current construction is from the thirteenth century although the archaeological remains reveal that the hill was walled from much earlier. It was one of the most important seats of the Georgian kings in the Eastern territories. Its strategic relevance has made it suffer various modifications and was prepared to withstand long sieges as it had its own water supply mechanism.
